I ordered the Italianish over the phone and it was good but not amazing. I only ate half and shared the other half. I also ordered the pastrami for my long trip home. I ate it a couple of hours later. It held up but the flavors were amazing on this one. The pastrami very flavorful, the relish and pickled onions were the icing on this sandwich. Can't wait to come again and eat it fresh next time around. I waited too long to try this place.

Uptown Provisions is a gem in Whittier. The dinning area is a little small, but nice seats are located outside. The staff was very nice and helpful. I had the Italian-ish and it was amazing!! I did not see the baked goodies until then way out I will absolutely be back. YES, I would recommend Uptown Provisions!!

Made the 30 min drive by way of HOT SO CAL summer weather heat and wanted nothing to do in the kitchen. Hubby picked this spot for lunch and was a winner ! Drove from Walnut to uptown Whittier just to go back to La Habra for errands. The whole drive in a circle was worth it because ITS THAT GOOD. I'm usually a pastrami girlie but when I read the ingredients of the Spicy Gabagool, I knew I had to try it. The meats, the cheeses, arugula, hot honey complimented each other so well. The amount of ingredients was perfect on the country bread and wasn't soggy. I also took a bite of the hubby's Italian-ish and yes, that one is DELISH also ! Sitting there, devouring my sandwich I was eyeing the menu and couldn't help but to make a mental list of what to try out next. I'm coming for you PASTRAMI ! Oh and BTW, the COOKIES !!! GAHHHH !! The Big-O, Summer Camp and Snickerdoodle was the perfect ending. Saturday noon time Parking: Scored street parking right in front Wait Time: None in line and about 10 min for our sandwich. Within minutes a line formed and was completely busy the whole time we were there. Tables: Grabbed the last empty table indoor. Outside was empty when we arrived but by the time we left they were all occupied inside and out. Friendly service, clean & priced well. A neighborhood gem we plan to frequent often.

Here is an honest review, take it for what you will: The food here is great. The food itself is worthy of 5 stars. I've only ever had the prime rib & bbq brisket sandwich and to be honest it really is one of the best sandwiches I've ever had in my life. The ingredients are quality and work well together. The bread is a nice touch too, and the size of the sandwich, in conjunction with the ingredients, make for a very fair price point ($16.) To compare, a boring turkey sandwich from subway will run $12+. I haven't had any other sandwiches, but have been with friends that have tried others and they loved them all. I havent heard a single bad thing from anyone about their food here. If you're looking for a boring sandwich stick with Jimmy John's. Here you'll find unique sandwiches like the one I got with a delicious broccoli slaw, or other interesting options like their chicken curry sandwich which I haven't tried but sounds delicious, maybe sometime. The size of the sandwiches are decent too and will certainly satisfy you, for reference im 6 foot and have a decent appetite and get full off them. Now, the reason this review is 4 stars and not 5 is for the entire experience as a whole, which includes the atmosphere, setting, and flow of business, and one major gripe I will touch on at the end. If you're hoping to enjoy your delicious sandwich at their site, don't get your hopes up. The inside is very cramped with room for about 10 people to sit spread around the restaurant. I hadn't been in here when they first opened but saw they had a space for racks with merchandise in the middle that is now occupied by tables for patrons. It isn't much, but its something I guess. They still have a merch shelf (by merch, I mean some foodstuffs like sauces and jarred goods) against the back wall. Idk how well they do on those sales, but maybe remove those entirely and just increase the usable space for patrons? Every time I'm there I never see anyone grab anything off the shelf and purchase it anyways. They also have some tables outside and umbrellas, but being that their hours of operation (11?ish-3ish?) Span the hottest hours of the day, the shade provided is a joke and not sufficient enough. Also the occasional crackhead tends to stroll by every once in a while. In short, take your chances and see if you can sit there. As far as atmosphere, avoid this place like the plague if you're even mildly claustrophobic. During peak times people gather inside like cattle and its hard to walk through. People in line ordering (who by the way, take forever to order even though its really not that hard) plus the other people waiting for their sandwich makes the (on average) 20+ minutes of waiting very unpleasant. People also go in after hikes, so you're rubbing elbow with some sweaty folks, not the businesses fault, but personal space doesn't exist within these walls. Flow of business: as mentioned, you'll be waiting here for a while unless you're one of the first customers of the day. One thing they do here, which drives me absolutely CRAZY is their expediting process. Someone will bring a sandwich up to the counter, and it will sit there for several minutes while the cashier assists whatever overly curious mouth-breather is trying to order. I've stood there and stared at my sandwich for 5 minutes, knowing full well that its mine, before they called my number. I cant be the only one peeved by that, but it really is annoying, especially because in those 5 minutes your sandwich can start getting soggy. Nitpicky, but they can be better about that. Finally, my last gripe, is the lack of hair protection here. The gals that work here have their hair back in a bun which is great, but but the guys have NO hair protection often with crazy bed-head hair. I only saw one guy with hair protection, (a beanie, thank god) but he wasn't on the ingredient line. As I was waiting for my sandwich, all I could think of was the possibility of hair falling into my sandwich or into the line of fresh ingredients. Seriously, its absurd, and frankly kind of disgusting. I know hair nets or hats aren't cool in the kitchen sometime, and I know that hair in food isn't particularly the worst thing in the world either, but its easily avoidable and I'd like to not have to worry about that. TLDR; food is good and high quality, place gets overly packed and food can take forever. Some practices can be changed to make this place even better.

Delicious sandwiches! Every time I'm in Whittier I have to stop by Uptown provisions! I had family come from out of town and we bought one of each sandwich to try. They loved them all but the favorite was the Spicy Gabagool with avacado. We went back two more times before they went home.

Wow, all the sandwiches were so good! It's a small mom and pop shop in Whittier on Penn St. We decided to go to the store and just order there. But you can also order online and pick it up. The service was quick and they did let us know that they had run out of country bread so those sandwiches were served on rye. It's a small place with a few tables inside and few outside. They have a few fridges with drinks and a section with some deli items on a shelf. They also sell merch. And their designs were very cute. We got the Italian-ish, prosciutto, and the smoked pastrami. All of them were delicious. It was hard to pick a favorite but I really enjoyed the Italian-ish and Prosciutto. Their sandwiches are big and they are very filling. I'll definitely be coming back to try some of their other sandwiches.

You can just TELL there's so much love put into these sandwiches. They're PACKED in between some of the best bread I've ever had. I've tried four of their sandwiches so far. My favorite is prime rib and BBQ brisket. I love cole slaw in a sandwich, especially when it's with layers and layers of meat. Second favorite is the Spicy Gabagool sandwich. The burrata is sooo delicious and there's a nice tangy flavor from the Calabrian chile. It's just perfect. My last two I tried are the meatballs sandwich and Egg Salad Sandwich. I was so sad I didn't enjoy the Egg Salad because it seems to be a favorite here. However, I just don't think it's for me. Reasons being, the brioche bread is sweet and I realize I just don't like sweet bread in a sandwich. My first bite of the egg salad was filled with pepperoncini so it really overpowered the egg and avocado. I realize I'm a purist when it comes to egg salad sandwiches where all I need a is egg, kewpie mayo and salt. Anyway to wrap it up, I think this place deserves the crowd and all the accolades. It's a solid sandwich spot.
